If you’re a woodworker you know all too well about scrap wood. I have several pieces of leftover 2×8 cedar from another project that I’ve been saving for a number of years. Too good to burn but too small to make anything “useful.” Scrap hardwood is easy: cutting boards. Cedar cannot be used for cutting boards because it is too soft. But it is an excellent choice for outdoor projects. I finally got motivated to do something with the scrap recently and the results are 3 birdhouses all of slightly different design. Birdhouses are fun and fast to make, easy enough to experiment with design, and are definitely useful for birds(!). I will save these to sell at a local show in town during the upcoming Holiday season.
